About Almacrypt
Cryptology is a foundation of information security in the digital world.
Today's Internet is protected by complexity theoretic cryptography. This is based on hardness assumptions which should:
- Be strong to ensure security
- Be versatile to offer functionalities
- Be efficient to compute to allow fast implementations
However, there are many assumptions not sufficiently tested and internet security could be at risk. This is becoming even more worrying with the possible emergence of general purpose quantum computers in the mid-term future.
The main ambition of Almacrypt is to remedy this issue by challenging the assumptions through an advanced algorithmic analysis.
In particular, the scope of proposal includes research on:
- Factoring
- Discrete logarithms
- Elliptic curves and isogenies
- Subset-sum and decoding exponential algorithms
- Resolution of polynomial systems
- Applicability of Quantum Computers to these problems
